2014

Well, it’s here. The new year. 2014.

Since I’m not very good at coming up with wise and quirky sayings, I’ll reflect on some from other, wiser people.
“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning, but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” — Hal Borland
My buddy Hal here is right. We aren’t “starting over” and the year isn’t ending. If we were starting over, all of the things we’ve learned over the years would be erased. We have a chance to learn from our experiences and become smarter, better selves.
“All of us every single year, we're a different person. I don't think we're the same person all our lives.” — Steven Spielberg
And Steven here’s also right. We grow from everything we’ve lived through. We learn, we mourn, and we survive. From all of that we are reborn; not every year, but every day. As we live, we change.
“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice.” — T.S. Eliot
T.S. here’s saying (in my interpretation) that we have time to create ourselves differently than before. Though we’ve lived through many things and learned from them, we also have to find different ways of looking at things and different voices that we will speak.

And lastly—
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
We must believe in ourselves and our dreams to be able to achieve them. Believe that you can do it. Believe that you’re worth it. Because you can and you are.

I hope you all have a joyous year full of happiness, love, and growth.

Yours,
