Review: 3.5 butterflies
First let me say that this is a good book. It really is. The plot was a good one, and I loved what brought these two people together.
However, the main characters sometimes rubbed me the wrong way. Like how Callie was always so concerned about her appearance. I know that to be an actress (her career of choice) you really do have to look your best, but the way that she was always so completely depressed about her scar really irritated me.
Something that I really liked about this though, was the beginning. I don’t like it when the heroine is described as “stunning” or “perfect,” because most women aren’t. But once her accident happened, I realized why this was played up—in order to create the problem that brings these two together and to give Callie a hoop to jump through.
Even so, Callie wasn’t my favorite character in the book.
Noah I liked a bit better. I liked that he was always trying to get Callie to look on the bright side and his passion for trying to get her to see herself better. His problems seemed very real and very big. I liked how he fell in love against his wishes, how we as readers could tell that he was falling in love but he was blind (by choice) to it. Even so, he still did annoy me at times with his “I don’t like her; I can’t like her” attitude.
Honestly, my favorite character in this book was a secondary character. I really liked Max, Noah’s best friend. I wished we could have seen more of him, and I hope we get to see more of him in another book.
The ending left me feeling like it was rushed. Callie finds out about Noah and his past, and she’s rightfully mad. Then Noah shows up and she forgives him just like that. Make him sweat for it, girl! It felt like she said “I’m so mad at y—oh okay, I’ll forgive you.” She could have at least talked to him a bit more and clarified why what he did was not okay.
Nevertheless, this book is a sweet read that is perfect for when you want those inevitable happy endings!
